About Us
While working for many years with Calgary Public Library, Debbie Marshall and Cynthia Asquin-Richards developed their oral storytelling skills and an extensive knowledge of literature for children and young adults. As individuals they planned and provided programs and promoted public library services to children and students of all ages. Since 1996 they have worked together as STORYWORKS. They have provided storytelling and reader’s theatre performances, writing and storytelling workshops and residencies to teachers and students across Alberta.
As the Storyworks team, Deb and Cynthia provide programming that uses oral story as the narrative framework for encouraging students to explore and develop their creative ablilities in the literary arts. The workshops, performances and residencies are enhanced with creative dramatics, writing, and visual arts. They continue to learn and develop new stories and incorporate new ideas into their progamming to keep it fresh and exciting, while at the same time allowing them to custom design to individual school needs.
